“So much of religion seems to be about fear”

“So much of religion seems to be about fear:
fear of going to hell;
fear of having bad theology;
fear of not satisfying your end of the bargain so God will favor you and bless you;
fear of others finding out how much you’re not really like the person you project and pretend to be;
fear of trusting your own inner guidance and fear of thinking for yourself;
fear of not upholding the expectations of your religious sub-culture;
fear of sexuality;
fear of people who are different;
fear of the world…

I spent over a year soaking in one verse of scripture, “God is love” and every one of those fears disintegrated. There is no fear in love, or so I learned.”
– Jim Palmer

Like what Jim Palmer wrote, God is love and there is no fear in love. This verse is worth meditating on and remembering, not only to build up our inner self but also to combat against the lies of fear-based religion that propagates the illusion of separation and performance-based system of “doing in order to become”. I think organised religions mainly use fear and guilt to control followers because if people choose to think for themselves and follow their heart and intuition, these organised religions or institutions will lose their control and influence over them. It is important for everyone therefore to realise that God is love, and love is not confined to any religion or belief system. Love unites humanity as one. Also, knowing the perfect love of God casts out fear – Jesus is Perfect Love in action as he tells people “do not fear” – he who has seen Jesus has seen the Father.

“Our perception of God as an entity outside of us is the belief that is at the root of all of our troubles. This idea separates the observer [you and I] from the essence of creation herself. This adopted belief diminishes our creative power to make manifest our ideals and hopes. We ignore an aspect of our personal autonomy becuase we deny what we inherently are.

There is no one true religion. There are no “chosen people.” No prophet is the greatest prophet. YOU are the prophet of your life. You are the chosen one for YOUR journey.

God has been communicating with, and through, ALL people since the beginning of time. This connection fuels our intuition, our sense of profound humility, and the knowingness that we are all apart of the “god matrix” living in oneness. If we want world peace we need to be brave and reassess our relationship with God.”
