Jesus died for our debt, not our “sins” – Michael Hudson

This article sheds light on Jesus’ mission to free people from political-economic slavery and bring economic empowerment to those who are oppressed by the capitalistic system, as highlighted in the Lord’s prayer and Luke 4 on the Jubilee.

I find it helpful to understand the crucifixion of Jesus in terms of his punishment for his economic views because he was a threat to the creditors and pro-capitalism pharisees.

Indeed, “Jesus Christ was a socialist activist for the continuity of regular debt jubilees that were considered essential to the wellbeing of ancient economies”, which today’s economies should learn from and apply in order to ensure and maximise the wellbeing of everyone, not just for a selected few wealthy elites in the world.
